Telltale to Tell More Tales

We’ve just received extremely exciting news from one of the biggest names in indie game development. Telltale Games has announced it is teaming up with Gearbox Software to release a spin-off to the console series Borderlands in their iconic adventure, choice-driven, comic style. The episodic release will be called Tales from the Borderlands. We love the concept of using Telltale’s narrative-driven experiences that has worked so well for TV shows and comics, to not only deepen existing game worlds, but bring them to more formats.

But that is not the only exciting news. An episodic adventure series based off of the Game of Thrones TV show is also in the works for 2014. The show has been a raging success and for good reason, but we can’t help but be disappointed that the brilliant novels aren’t playing source material for this one. Not that we expect that to hinder the quality of the experience… we’re just fanboys of the book and it has so much more material in it that couldn’t make the cut in the show.

For those unaware of why TellTale is so revered, it’s thanks to their breakout hit The Walking Dead (get season 1 here), which rolled big AAA console games to take Game of the Year awards across the world in 2012. Season 2 is set to release any day now, but fans can also pick up the equally inspired The Wolf Among Us right now, which is based on the Fables comic.
